The passing of VSI President Willis "Woody" Woodward prompted many Board decisions to be made. The Board met on August 24th, 2004 at the corporate office in Modesto. First it was decided to add positions to the Board of Directors, bringing the total to nine members. VSI Modesto Controller Bud Cull, Northwest Branch Manager Brad Gohr, and Visalia Branch Manager Tom Babb were all elected to fill the Board vacancies.

John Scheuber, who has been VSI's General Manager since 1979 was elected as President / CEO and Trustee of VSI's ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan). Dennis Anderson, a 30 year veteran poultry sales representative and Fresno Branch Manager was elected Vice President of VSI. Bud Cull was placed into the combined position of Secretary/Treasurer and will continue Chief Financial Officer at VSI.

In light of Woody's death our perennial Vice President Frank Sweetman, who is now retired and farming almonds in Turlock, CA and John Pugliese, our perennial Secretary/Treasurer who is still working part time in sales at VSI Fresno, have resigned their respective offices. They will, however remain as Board Members. We gratefully thank them for their years of devotion to VSI and wish them well.
